Met with Joe Schneider, the new Director of Produce replacing Rich Konger who was promoted back in August. Joe is a 30 year King Kullen employee, starting out at age 16 in the store, and working his way up. I gave Joe a briefing on who NWCG is and what we provide, and also updated him on what we know this far about the upcoming season. Joe intends to advertise cherries most weeks throughout the season.
Internal note
King Kullen is being purchased by Ahold, and I asked Joe about what that means for King Kullen. He said that at this point, no one knows what will happen, but in June, Ahold will own the building where the KK office is located. Not sure if they will let them operate independently, or will pull it all into Quincy. Have to wait and see.
