Met with Craig Minichiello. Craig said that he felt that last year was an exceptional year for them with cherries. He felt that it was because they were a more promotable price, and I suggested that it could have also been that they ran more ads. Craig said that he felt that as long as the price allowed, they would be doing considerable ads again this year. He was pleased to learn that the availability of organics is increasing as they are getting more interest from their customers for organic fruit. I also think they are competing with Whole Foods in some markets and they don't want their customers to wander. He said that he did struggle with Rainier quality. He wished they could do more Rainiers as they are his personal favorite fruit, but they just can't seem to get them to arrive without problems. He mentioned that they would like to do a demo again this year.
Craig asked for a demo again. He said that they now have a company they work with that will do 5 days for $900 plus the cost of samples. In addition, if they could combine it with another complementary commodity, they would then be able to do it for 10 days for the same price. He asked me to get back to him and let him know if we can do the demo again this year.
