Met with Denise Dryzga, the Category Manager and was introduced to Ryan Merone, her new Assistant Category Manager.  Ryan will be helping Denise with cherries this year.  Denise now has a couple of years of cherries under her belt and seems to feel a little more comfortable.  She mentioned that this past cherry year was their best year ever as far as volume.  She said when I approached her last year about display contests, her first reaction was that this was something that she would never be able to get her stores to do.  She was amazed to find that all her stores embraced the contest and built some very imaginative displays.  She is convinced this is a big part of the reason they sold so many cherries last year and hopes that we will provide some assistance for display contests again this year.
