I met with Jeff Duggan. As Spartan and Nash Finch have merged, many positions have been created and filled by different associates. Jeff will now be the Category Manager. He was great to meet and very interested in our presentation. We discussed all areas of cherries and apricots and the timing of our crop. We also discussed the intent funding and how it should be handled. We will fund cherries and apricots separately this year with Spartan (Grand Rapids) and Nash (Minneapolis). All of their systems should be in place by the end of our season and then all merchandising programs will be run from Grand Rapids. Buying will be split in the new combined organization with all fruit being purchased in Minneapolis and vegetables being purchased in Michigan.
