I met with James Drew. We discussed the merger between Spartan and Nash Finch. The new name is Spartan/Nash. The two companies have had two completely different systems and they are being constructed to work as one. This issue is not being finished on time. It was due to be completed by early Spring, but now may not be completed until the end of the year. This delay has left both companies working independently in most areas. One area has been centralized, that has areas of produce buying. Example, cherries will now be purchased by a buyer in Minneapolis. James feels the working relationship has been smooth and very workable. We covered the entire N/W cherry/apricot programs and had a lot of conversation. James will get back to me with his needs for our materials.
