Met with Charlie Yeh and Paul McLean at their offices in Norwalk.  Stew Leonards is a unique grocery retailer with exceptional customer following. Their claim is to always buy the biggest and the best, and for the most part, they  do that. They advertise cherries almost every week during the season, and build multiple large well stocked displays throughout the store. Both Charlie and Paul recognized the value of cherries at retail and will continue to promote cherries extensively during the season. Briefed them both on the issue of grower sustainability and they said that they understood and that local growers were having the same issue. They recognize that this cannot continue long-term and will do what they can to try to make a difference, and make their customers aware of the issue.
