Met with Mat Blair at his office in Buffalo. Mat works for Northeast Shared Services, so does the buying and planning for both Tops Friendly Markets and Price Chopper.  Mat is planning to support  cherries as soon as he can start, and especially planning a large 250th anniversary Fourth of July promotion. Told him that fruit would be earlier this year than normal, and he said to keep him posted so that he can start as early as possible, but felt he would definitely plan a promotion starting on 6/14. He asked about a sales contest, but I told him that we were not doing the contests this year. He was disappointed, but said that he may end up doing one himself because it does create some very exciting displays which he feels moves a lot of cherries. During the meeting, Jeff Cady, the director of produce stopped in to say hello. Jeff and I have been friends for many years and it gave me an opportunity to update him on the crop as well. I look for good support from both of these banners.
