Tops did not participate fully last year, only earning about 60% of what they were offered. Justin says he expects to do better this year. Along with Price Chopper, they are included in the new Northeast Shared Services Group. C&S buys all the product for the group, but Price Chopper and Tops still have autonomy as far as ads are concerned. Justin said that they are still working their way through some of the adjustments with the change, but they have been doing it for longer than Price Chopper and Justin is optimistic that this will work better in the end. He will be responsible for cherries for both banners, and he feels that the new arrangement will give him more time to actually manage the commodity since C&S will actually be doing the buying.
