stone fruit - cherry
I met with Dave Rhodes. Dave explained how the newly formed group of stores was working and he felt that it was really starting to jell and sales were really good. He said more stores are in the works to add to their base. Dave was very pleased with this years cherry crop and said he advertised cherries every week they were available. He did mention the dark color this year but the fruit sold well. He talked about his suppliers and the job they did for him and was very pleased. He mentioned that he didn't have volume comparisons to last year, but had a gut feeling that they were better. He said the grapes at the end of the season started to fill the gap of our crop ending early. They have continued in using a variety of peach states. He mentioned, Illinois, New Jersey, southern and a few Calif.
Dave has used a lot of Wash.St. stone fruit in the past but felt the more local worked out very good due to flavor and quality.
