Publix as always promotes and pushes our NW Cherries. They had a nice ad layout promoting peak of the season for NW Cherries. They had both dark sweet and rainier cherries on display in 2 different locations in the department. They also had a nice display of Strawberry Cherries in a 1 lb clam tied in with the others on their main display. They were priced at $5.99 per clam. They too were promoting watermelons for the July 4th holiday. However Publix took a different approach. They had small red seedless advertised at $2.99 each, and they also had large seedless watermelons at $5.99 each. The large ones were 3 times the size of the small ones. This store bucks the trend in the Southeast as they had no Southern peaches, all they had were California peaches and they looked absolutely fantastic. Deep red color, large sizes and just really high quality stuff. Maybe the best peaches I have seen this year. Nectarines were also high quality great color and advertised with the California peaches at $1.99 lb. Strawberries were in the ad at 3/$10.00 from California. Raspberries from California and blueberries from New Jersey were in the ad at 2/$5.00. Mexican grapes were advertised (red & white seedless) for $2.49 lb and were of medium size. They had their regular table space and then one complete end cap was devoted to them as well.
