Ingles like everyone else was getting ready for the July 4th holiday by advertising and promoting watermelons and Athena cantaloupes.  The watermelons were priced at $2.98 each and this store had the equivalent of 8 bins on the sales floor.  6 bins were together in 1 location and 2 other bins located in other parts of the department.  These were huge watermelons as well probably 25-30 lbs each.  Large eastern Athena cantaloupes were $2.68 each.  This store had Northwest cherries in the ad as well at $2.98 lb.  They were displayed in 2 locations in the department, with one being in front as you enter the department.  Each location was only about 50% full, however as I was there a cart was being pushed out  with 8 boxes of NW cherries to be displayed.  The cherries were 11 1/2 row as I saw the boxes that were marked.  There was not the first bag of Rainier Cherries to be found.  Another big push item that was in the ad as well was SC peaches on the front page at 68 cents per lb.  Color was good and the sizes were mixed from large to medium.  California plums and nectarines  were displayed in 2 locations as well.  Some were with the SC peaches and the rest were all the way in the back of the department which seemed strange as I had to ask where the nectarines were.  The apricots were displayed in the back as well.  Strawberries and blueberries were displayed on a table together in middle of the department.  Strawberries were from California and Blueberries were from NC.  Blueberries were in the ad for 2/$6.00.  Grapes were from Mexico and displayed in middle of the department.  Red and white seedless were priced the same in the ad at $1.98 lb.  Mostly small grapes with some of medium size.
