This is the 1st California Cherries I have seen this year.  They were very poor both in size and color, with many sizes and various shades of red in the same bag.  Sizes were probably a 12 row or smaller.  The store only had 1 row of them displayed with other summer fruits in middle of the department.  Close by were nectarines and plums from Chili.  They appeared to be hard as a rock.  Size was really large on both items but color was also inconsistent.  Not something one would want to pick up and buy.  With this being first of the season for them, I know their quality on these items will improve.  California strawberries were a different story with high quality fruit on display with large berries.  They were in the ad at 3-1 lb clams on sale for 3/$5.00.  Blueberries from Georgia were priced at 2/$6.00 for 1 lb clam.  They also had a display of what looked like a peck basket priced at $9.99 each. they were labeled as local an the berry size for these were huge.  Raspberries and blackberries from Mexico in 6 ounce clams were also very nice priced at 2/$5.00. Grapes from Chili were also nice and priced at $2.99 for red seedless and $3.99 for white seedless.
