BC was still promoting their cherries into early August with some larger displays then seen before. Produce operators that I saw said the season was closing soon however, they said they would still see BC cherries until August 20th or so. The quality was not that good as there were several soft cherries in the bag maybe 20%.
Peaches are in full swing now and the taste is very good this year and their crop is expected to be 20% higher than last year. Local markets continue to promote BC peaches and are not sending them away to be processed and sent to retailers. BC Tree Fruits is having some issues filling orders so there are is opportunity for Washington shippers to sell fruit.
